Beka Economopoulos, a member of the Brooklyn-based group Not An Alternative, interprets a moving sculpture by artists at the Toronto G20 using the “Black Bloc” method of sculpting. The piece entitled “The Sculpture of Exception,” ironically turns political theorist Carl Schmitt’s “state of exception” on its head. The state of exception, according to Schmitt, frees the executive from any legal restraints to its power that would normally apply in a given crisis situation or any situation where power needs self-legitimization.

 ブルックリンを拠点とするNot An Alternativeのメンバー、Beka Economopoulosは、彫刻の"Black Bloc"的方法論を用いて、トロントのG20でのアーティスト達による移動彫刻についての解釈を行っている。「例外彫刻」と名付けられたこの作品は、皮肉にも、政治理論家であるカールシュミットの「例外状態」を覆したものとなっている。「例外状態」とは、シュミットによれば、国家の統治機構が、あらゆる法的拘束から自由になり、作られた危機や権力が自己の正当性を必要とする状況へとその権力を自由に適用できる状況の事である。

“The Sculpture of Exception” illustrates that collective bodies can also operate outside legal restraints when governments perpetuate crisis through capital consolidation and austerity. The piece draws attention to the possibilities for refusal and non-compliance in the face of such given force and shows a dialectic that forms within this context.

「例外彫刻 」は、政府が資本の強化や緊縮財政を通じて危機を継続させる際に、群衆的身体もまた法的制約の外部で行動を起こし得るということを具体的に示している。この「作品」はこのような暴力に直面した際の拒否や不服従への可能性について注意を向け、この状況の文脈内で形成される弁証法を表しているのだ。

有象無象の夏の宴ーなんとかフェス2010 のお知らせ

 昨年から長野の山の中で始まった、完全DIY、自力、恊働の夏の祭り「なんとかフェス2010 Summer Panic!!」が8月20-22日にかけて、長野の安茂里という場所で行われる予定。福岡からは遠いけれども、なんとかして行かなければ！

最高な場所で最高なヤツらと最高な音楽とメシをほとんどタダで楽しんじゃう。そりゃ最高のパーティーだ！！　ってことで始まった前回の「なんとかフェス」。フリーペーパー「ＴＯＫＹＯなんとか」に集まったオルタナティブなスペースと、そこを動かすブッ飛んだヤツらやその友達が集まって、音楽もメシも食事も寝る場所もトイレも、とりあえずやれることはてめーらで全部作って、最高なパーティーをやろうじゃん！　って騒ぎ出した。場所は長野駅から一駅の安茂里駅から徒歩20分、奇矯なリサイクルショップ店主ジローさん提供の、ジローズ・スモーキー・ビッグマウンテン。前回のスローガンは「NO SPECTATORS!!　SURVIVE＆ALIVE！」ボケっと見てるんじゃねーよ。何にも無いから何かやんなきゃ！　金は出さなくていいから、手でも口でも出して何か作って分け合うんだ！　あんた自身のやり方で。時と場所と智恵はたっぷりある。ってことでブっとんだお祭り騒ぎをやらかしたってわけ。そんな最高のパーティーが今年、さらにパワーアップしてやってくる。今年のテーマは「サマーパニック」さあさあ、今 年はいったいどんなとんでもないバンドやＤＪ、イベントがやってくるのか！？　新しいタイヤステージとはどんなステージなんだ？　ついにその全貌が明らか になる！　映画『なんとかフェス the ムービー』も一部上映予定（DVD買ってくれ）！　ＢＢＱもドリンクも200円均一だ！　あのジローさんも参加する！かも。とにかくもう来るしかない！

 （※一部抜粋 ）つまり「サヴァイヴ＆アライヴ」の「なんとかフェスティヴァル」は、「リヴァイヴ」のフェスでも あったわけだが、それ以上にまずは「アライヴ」のフェスだったと思う。なにを「生きた」かといえば、もちろん「革命後の世界の暮らし」であり、「金もうけ 連中の世話や餌食にならなくて済む生活」であり、「エコ＝ＥＣＯ＝END CAPITALISM ORGANICALY＝有機的に資本主義を終結させる)」な生活である。それは、朝起きてから朝寝るまで、ひっきりなしに誰かがドラムやギターを鳴らして いたり、昼間からなにもせずただぶらぶらしてたり、夜中に酔っぱらって地面で眠りこんでたりしても、まぁ「なんとか」なってゆく暮らしであり、「なんと か」なりそうにない場面になればなるほど、みんなでよってたかって「なんとか」してしまう、たくましい生活である。（イルコモンズのふた）

"Over the new year 2009-2010, an international group of 1500 men and women from 42 nations went to Egypt to join a Freedom March to Gaza. They did this to protest the current blockade of Gaza. To protest the fact that the people of Gaza live in a virtual prison. To protest the fact that a year after the terror attack by Israeli armed forces destroyed most of their homes, hospitals, schools, and other public buildings, they have no possibility to rebuild because their borders are closed. The would be Freedom Marchers wanted to peacefully draw attention to the predicament of the Palestinian population of Gaza. The Egyptian government, (funded to the tune of $2.1 billion a year, by us, the US tax payers), would not allow the marchers to approach Gaza. How lame is that? And how predictable! I live in the USA and during this time Dec 25th 2009-Jan3rd 2010 I saw no reference to Gaza or the Freedom March or the multi national protesters gathered there. Anyway I was moved, in the circumstances, to record a new version of " We shall overcome". It seems appropriate.
